    Background

    At Locsense we develop hardware to measure the impedance of cell cultures through Electrical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS). Our customers are interested in the properties of the cell cultures over time and before and after occurrences of specific events (for instance adding a compound to the cell culture).

    Assignment

    During your internship, you will work on making a proof-of-concept for the design of a cloud platform that supports EIS data collection, transformation, visualization. The platform is intended for biological researchers with varying levels of technical expertise. There is knowledge within our team on the requirements, but additional requirements could also be gathered by interviewing users of our equipment. The following tasks are included in the assignment:

    • Create user personas and journey maps to guide design decisions.
    • Design wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes for key features such as:
      • Dataset upload and management
      • Data exploration and filtering
      • Visualization dashboards
      • Collaboration and sharing tools
    • Choose a suitable platform (together with the team) and develop a Proof-of-Concept front-end design for this Data Portal
    • Present the design and Proof-of-Concept to the team

    Your profile

    You are a bachelor or master student in one of the following disciplines: Interaction technology, industrial design engineering, creative technology, computer science. Ideally you have knowledge of and you are interest in:

    • UX research methods (interviews, surveys, usability testing)
    • Design tools (Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch)
    • Prototyping and wireframing
    • Basic understanding of cloud platforms and data workflows (a plus)
