At Locsense we develop hardware to measure the impedance of cell cultures through Electrical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS). Our customers are interested in the properties of the cell cultures over time and before and after occurrences of specific events (for instance adding a compound to the cell culture).
Role
We are looking for a creative and skilled Front-End Software Engineer to take ownership of a critical new project: the development of our Online Customer Environment.
In this role, you won’t just be building a dashboard; you will be creating the central interface through which global researchers interact with their data. You will bridge the gap between complex hardware-generated datasets and a seamless, intuitive user experience. Activities include but are not limited to:
- Create user personas and journey maps to guide design decisions.
- Design wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes for key features.
- Choose a suitable platform (together with the team) and develop a Proof-of-Concept front-end design for this Data Portal
- Develop the portal together with colleagues and based on customer input.
Your profile
You are a motivated proactive frontend developer, preferably with some experience in setting up a cloud environment. You recognize yourself in the following criteria:
- Finished education in Information Sciences or a related field
- Affinity with UI and UX design
- Knowledge about common Front End design tools (Figma, Adobe, Sketch)
- Knowledge about setting up a cloud Portal
- Interested in working together with Customers to obtain the necessary requirements

Electrical engineer
Locsense B.V. is an innovative company that develops and supplies lab instruments for in-vitro testing. In-vitro cell culture technology based on human material is taking off, partly because it has the potential to have a better predictive value for drug effectiveness and toxicity than animal testing.
The Locsense Artemis impedance spectrometer/TEER detector is suitable for monitoring cell growth, cell culture quality and cell activity.
Position
Within this position you are responsible for client specific projects. Your activities include electronics design and implementation. Next to that, you contribute to the development of the new generation of (impedance measuring) instruments. Among other things, you are involved in:
- Client specific projects
- Building prototypes
- Signal generation and data acquisition
- PCB design and development
- Component selection and prototyping
- Drafting and executing test protocols
Your profile
You are a motivated electrical engineer with preferably at least 1 year work experience and you can work independently. You recognize yourself in the criteria listed below:
- Completed education in electrical engineering (university or higher professional education with demonstrable relevant work experience)
- Experience in measurement instrument development
- Knowledge of signal transport and processing, up to MHz range
- Interest in low voltage measurements, and high frequency sensor applications
- Knowledge of relevant directives, for example low voltage and EMC standards
- Knowledge of or interest in FPGA implementation
