    Internship UX design

    Background

    At Locsense we develop hardware to measure the impedance of cell cultures through Electrical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS). Our customers are interested in the properties of the cell cultures over time and before and after occurrences of specific events (for instance adding a compound to the cell culture).

    Assignment

    As part of your internship, you will contribute to the design of a cloud-native platform that supports data ingestion, transformation, visualization, and collaboration. The platform is intended for biological researchers with varying levels of technical expertise. The assignment is to determine the UI and UX needs from a customer perspective (there is some knowledge within our team, but preferably also by interviewing customers) and to make an initial Proof-of-Concept design for the interface. The following tasks are included in the assignment:

    • Conduct user research to understand the needs, workflows, and pain points of target users.
    • Create user personas and journey maps to guide design decisions.
    • Design wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes for key features such as:
      • Dataset upload and management
      • Data exploration and filtering
      • Visualization dashboards
      • Collaboration and sharing tools
    • Make a Proof-of-Concept front-end design for this Data Portal
    • Present the design to the team

    Your profile

    You are a bachelor or master student in one of the following disciplines: Interaction technology, industrial design engineering, creative technology, computer science. Ideally you have knowledge of and you are interest in:

    • UX research methods (interviews, surveys, usability testing)
    • Design tools (Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch)
    • Prototyping and wireframing
    • Basic understanding of cloud platforms and data workflows (a plus)
